Otitis media, classification and treatment features

Otitis media is the common name for the inflammatory disease of the middle ear mucoperiosteum, regardless of the cause and pathogenesis. Otitis media usually develops as a complication of a simple upper respiratory tract infection, begins from the nasal cavity. In the mucous membrane of the middle ear cavity via the eustachian tube leads to inflammation settlement. Almost all of the cases seen in children, otitis media is one of the main topics of pediatric otorhinolaryngology. Otitis media is the most common bacterial infection in children. Although spontaneous recovery is possible, it causes a global health problem because of the potentially serious complications. In this section aimed principles are; identification, classification and treatment approaches of the otitis media.

Otitis media, sınıflandırma ve tedaviye yaklaşım prensipleri

Otitis media (OM) en genel anlamı ile neden ve patogenezine bakılmaksızın orta kulak boşluğunun mukoperiosteumunun enflamatuar hastalığına verilen ortak bir addır. Otitis media genellikle burun boşluğundan başlayan bir basit üst solunum yolları enfeksiyonunun komplikasyonu olarak gelişir. Östaki tüpü aracılığıyla orta kulak boşluğunun mukozasında enflamasyonun yerleşmesine neden olur. Olguların tamamına yakınının çocuklarda görülmesi, OM’yi pediatrik otorinolaringolojinin temel konularından biri yapmıştır. Otitis media çocuklarda en sık görülen bakteriyel enfeksiyondur. Kendiliğinden iyileşme doğasına rağmen çok sık görülmesi ve ciddi komplikasyon ve sekellere neden olması nedeni ile global bir sağlık problemidir. Bu bölümde otitis medianın tanınması, sınıflandırma ve tedaviye yaklaşım prensipleri amaçlanmıştır.
